These photos may seem really regular and there may seem to be nothing special about them until you know the story behind them.
This woman, the one posed next to me in the second photo was one of few people that have ever openly expressed her respect and love of what we do as cosplayers. Rather than gawking, pointing, or staring at us coldly, she came up to us happy and excited to get pictures with us. Her children even genuinely loved what we do also. She even told me that to an extent she knows what’s it’s like to be seen in a bad way due to her being a lesbian. That touched me because as a lesbian myself for her to feel comfortable enough with me to share that with me showed how truly genuine she was. She told me such personal thing that so many people look down on because she trusted that I was a person who gets what it’s like to be seen in a generally bad way. I can’t even express how much that brightens my mood. This is very special to me because so much of the general public finds us disturbing or annoying even if we aren’t doing anything disruptive or rude. So to have such a sweet woman approach us with so much love and kindness and to have this woman teach her kids the very same thought process that she has gives me SO much hope.
