Top 10 Non-Disney Animated Films

[4] . The Prince of Egypt (1998)

I always consider it an achievement when I watch a movie about something I care little or nothing for, but I end up really loving anyway. So many of a persons’ favorite films are films that cater to what they’re interested in, so it really takes something great to make you care about something you otherwise wouldn’t. Not to mention that I’m sure the concept would’ve thrown a lot of people off. A Disney-esque take on the story of Moses with musical numbers? This shouldn’t have worked, but that’s just another reason it’s such an accomplishment. To be fair though, when you have the great Hans Zimmer composing said musical numbers, they’re sure to make much more of an impact. And they do. The character design in this is wonderful as well, very reflective of Egyptian hieroglyphs, and wow can I just mention how much I love all things Egypt? I always have, and it’s so beautifully portrayed here. Obviously not 100% historically accurate, but still gorgeous to look at. This is just one of the crowning achievements in animated film for me, everything about is so powerful.

Yesss~ one of my all time favorites!

Basically one of the best animated films ever. And I’m not even part of that religion. Such a powerful movie. I’d recommend it to everyone. :3

It’s just so wonderfully done that you forget it’s a religious movie. It didn’t come off as preachy.
