This actually happened to a friend of a friend of mine. She was told to sit in a corner in a restaurant in order to breastfeed her little girl and after she left, the owner yelled at her in the street : “Never f….ing come to my restaurant again and get your tits out and don’t tell other people not to come here!”. Following this, she set up a group on Facebook called Bristol Mother Suckers and held a flash mob in protest outside the restaurant. I find this picture so relevant. It shows how it’s fine to show a woman’s partially/completely naked body in public in a sexualised fashion, and that breasts should be seen as a thing for sexual pleasure only, not for the reason they were intended, to feed our babies. Men are allowed to aimlessly walk around with their chests out willy-nilly, no-one makes any fuss. No-one asks them to justify it. But for a woman to show a bit of breast, for the purpose of feeding a child, that’s taboo?
